Pennsylvania's refugees speak well over 50 different languages including Albanian, Amharic, Arabic, Armenian, Bassa, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Burmese, Cantonese, Chin, Creole, Croatian, Dinka, French, Gio, Hmong, Karen, Khmer, Kiswahili, Kpelle, Krahn, Krio, Kru, Kurdish, Lao, Latvian, Lithuanian, Mai Mai, Mano, Mende, Nuer, Oromo, Pashto, Persian, Polish, Rumanian, Russian, Serbian, Somali, Spanish, Temne, Teochew, Tigre, Tigrinya, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.

While most refugees learn English during their first few years in the United States, new arrivals and older refugees often need assistance in acquiring the knowledge and accessing the assistance needed for successful adjustment.
