​Bureau of Data Claims Management

The Bureau of Data and Claims Management (BDCM) is responsible for activities related to Medical Assistance invoice processing and payments to providers. All claims processing issues that involve the claims processing contractor, the Office of Information Systems, other Office of Medical Assistance Programs (OMAP) bureaus, and other Department of Human Services (DHS) organizations are coordinated and approved by this bureau.

This Bureau is responsible for activities related to the operation of the Provider Reimbursement and Operations Management Information System (PROMISe™), including the implementation of new projects and initiatives and revisions to the PROMISe™ system. BDCM oversees all operations of the claims processing contractor and authorizes payment of the contractor's invoices.

This Bureau serves as the primary contact with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services related to Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) operations, system performance reviews, and preparation of all advance planning documents requesting enhanced federal funding related to modifications enhancements to the claims processing system.

This Bureau is responsible for all data collection and data maintenance activities for all data types controlled by OMAP (which includes data that will be managed by the Bureau of Information Systems); and is responsible for a data management system which will contain the various data types in an organized; accessible database.

This Bureau is responsible for operational support of the Managed Care Program. These functions include Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) eligibility and enrollment and HMO systems payment support.

This Bureau coordinates information technology operational issues for the Office of Medical Assistance Programs. This includes review and approval of all systems changes, technical hardware and software acquisitions, etc., and Local Area Network (LAN) management.
