SNAP Extension of Renewal Due Dates In Response to the COVID-19 Emergency
Under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (P.L. 116-127) the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) approved the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) to extend certification periods for households receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits with a renewal due in March through August 2020. Below is a link to a communication that was sent to participants:
The certification requirements for households can be found here in the SNAP Handbook.
In the table below you can see what month your renewal is now due:
Original Month
| New Month |
March 2020 | September 2020 |
April 2020 | October 2020 |
May 2020
| November 2020
|
June 2020
| December 2020
|
July 2020

You do not need to do anything to take advantage of this change, it has been automatically applied to your case. If you already returned your renewal packet and provided the necessary documentation and interview, your case will be processed. You will receive a notice with your new certification period. If you have received the renewal packet but did not complete the process, your renewal period will be extended and you will receive a new renewal packet when renewal is due.
