Alert Details

Due to anticipated delays, individuals needing FBI background checks are strongly encouraged to start the process now in order to meet the Dec. 31, 2020 deadline.

Act 18, signed into law on May 8, 2020, allowed for a temporary extension for new and existing employees that work with children to meet the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal History clearance requirements found in the Child Protective Services Law. The extension was granted after the pandemic caused many fingerprinting locations across the state to close, but most locations have since reopened. The extension expires on December 31, 2020. Individuals needing the FBI Criminal History clearance are strongly encouraged to start the process now to avoid the possibility of a backlog at the end of the year. For fingerprinting locations open during COVID-19, please visit the IdentoGO Location Map.
