There are a wide variety of behavioral health programs available in Pennsylvania that can help with finding information on numerous treatment initiatives. These treatment options have been put in place to help children, adolescents, and adults. Options include both private pay and publicly funded programs.

  • ASERT (The Autism Services, Education, Resources, and Training Collaborative)
    The Autism Services, Education, Resources, and Training Collaborative (ASERT) is a key strategy of the Department of Human Services Bureau of Autism Services for meeting the needs of Pennsylvanians with autism and their family members, community members, and the providers who support them. The ASERT Resource Center offers information about local, regional, and statewide events, professional trainings, community resources, services, current research, and other relevant information.

  • SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) 
    The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America's communities.

  • DDAP (Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs)
    The mission of the Department of Drug and Alcohol Program is to engage, coordinate, and lead the commonwealth's effort to prevent and reduce drug, alcohol, and gambling addiction and abuse; and promote recovery. The program's website offers information on potential benefits; locating a provider; and overdose awareness, among other drug and alcohol relevant topics.

  • DDAP Compulsive and Problem Gambling
    This website is designed to raise awareness regarding problem gambling, along with providing the Pennsylvania Problem Gambling Helpline phone number. This website also contains links to what problem gambling is; the warning signs; what a person could lose by engaging in problem gambling; and facts and myths about problem gambling.

  • APPRISE
    APPRISE is a free health insurance counseling program designed to help older Pennsylvanians with Medicare. Counselors are trained staff and volunteers who can answer questions and provide objective, easy-to-understand information about Medicare, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Medicaid, and Long-Term Care Insurance.

  • PACE
    The Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract for the Elderly (PACE), the Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract for the Elderly Needs Enhancement Tier (PACENET), and PACE plus Medicare are Pennsylvania's prescription assistance programs for older adults, offering low-cost prescription medication to qualified residents, age 65 and older.

  • COMPASS
    COMPASS is an online application that allows Pennsylvanians (Adults and Children) the ability to screen for, apply for, and renew many health and human service programs. They include: Medical Assistance (MA), Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), Long Term Care Services, etc.

  • DHS SPBP (Special Pharmaceutical Benefits Program)
    This program provides service to individuals with behavioral health needs who do not respond to first-line drug therapies and who are not eligible for pharmaceutical coverage under Medicaid. This website provides information regarding the atypical antipsychotic medications that are covered, questions and answers, eligibility, and contact information.

    This website provides information about the types of services and supports funded throughout Pennsylvania by the Department of Human Services Office of Long Term Living (OLTL). The information provided will be helpful for caregivers, people who need rehabilitation and/or personal assistance, and/or people who are planning for future needs. Populations served include individuals over age 60 and individuals with physical/developmental disabilities over age 21.

    This website provides information regarding the ever evolving intellectual and developmental disability service system. It is evolving from one focused on providing service in large institutions – often far from a person's home and community -- to one based on a flexible and dynamic system of supports and services close to home and community. The new system is tailored to the needs of persons living in their home community which include community residential and day support services.

    The Special Kids Network assists children and youth with special health care needs to get the services and supports they require in order to thrive in the community and develop to their full potential. This program is offered through the PA Department of Health.
