HealthChoices Plan Selection

Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services (DHS) is changing which Physical Health Managed Care Organizations (PH Plans) are available for Medical Assistance (MA) consumers. This is an opportunity for DHS to be sure that the program and our partners are continuing to strive towards improved access to care and superior quality of care and support provided by the PH Plans to MA consumers.

The PH plans available in your county may change. In some counties, your current MCO will no longer be available, and in others, you may have new options to pick from. If you have to select a new plan, the DHS is committed to helping you find a plan that meets your individual needs, while also allowing you to keep your current health care providers. It's important for you to consider what doctors, hospitals, or other health care providers are in a PH plans' network.

This enrollment period is your opportunity to compare the health plan options in your region and choose the best plan for you.

When is the HealthChoices Plan Selection period?

The plan selection period is between June 22, 2022 and August 16, 2022, and is the period when you can choose a new plan that will start on September 1.

The Department of Human Services will notify you via U.S. mail and this mailing will be from PA Enrollment Services. Please note:

  • You will not lose your health coverage.
  • No changes to your health plan will happen until September 1.
  • If your health plan is no longer available in your county then you will need to choose a new plan by August 16, 2022 or one will be automatically assigned to you,
  • If your current plan is available, and you did not choose a new one, nothing will change.

June 22 to Aug 16

What do I need to do for now?

You do not need to do anything right now for enrollment.

You will get a letter in the mail letting you know of your new health plan options, important dates, and how to enroll. When you receive that, please start reviewing your options. You can contact PA Enrollment Services if you have questions about your options.

If you have recently moved, please update your address and personal information to make sure you receive your HealthChoices Plan Selection letter.

What will I have to do?

The Department of Human Services will notify you via U.S. mail when it is time to act.

New Plan...

If you want to choose a different plan, you can use PA Enrollment Services to compare plans during the enrollment period, between June 22, 2022 and August 16, 2022. You must make a change no later than August 16, 2022 for it to begin on September 1, 2022.

Same Plan...

If your plan isn't changing and want to stay in your current plan, you do not need to do anything.

Did Not Choose...

If your health plan is changing and you do not select provider by August 16, 2022, a health plan will be chosen for you. You will not lose coverage.
