Subject: Medical Assistance Payment Name Change
Beginning with payment date March 28, 2018, Medical Assistance (MA) providers may see a change to the name appearing on MA payments. In an effort to strengthen payment integrity methods in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Treasury, MA will begin to apply a provider’s IRS legal name to payments in most cases. The provider name appearing on Remittance Advices (RA) will NOT change.
Please note: the name appearing on the RA may differ from the name appearing on the payment corresponding to that RA, if your IRS legal name does not appear on your RA. For paper check payments, the 13-digit provider ID number and voucher (VT) number will appear on the check to associate the check payment with the corresponding RA. For electronic payments, a reference to the VT and item number combination will continue to be included on the electronic payment transfer to uniquely associate payment with its corresponding RA, consistent with Quick Tip #166 found at:
