A quarterly nonpublic MDOI will be calculated for each qualifying nonpublic nursing facility for
Fiscal Year 2013-2014. To qualify for a payment, the facility must be a nonpublic nursing
facility during the entire Resident Day quarter used to obtain the resident days for calculating
the payment, have an overall occupancy rate of at least 85% and an MA occupancy rate of at
least 65%. Resident Day information must be submitted on or before the reporting due date
and will not be adjusted for changes after that date.
Fiscal Quarter Resident Day Quarter Reporting Due Date
July 1 – September 30, 2013 April 1 – June 30, 2013 October 31, 2013
October 1 – December 31, 2013 July 1 – September 30, 2013 January 31, 2014
January 1 – March 31, 2014 October 1 – December 31, 2013 April 30, 2014
April 1 – June 30, 2014 January 1 – March 31, 2014 July 31, 2014
The overall occupancy rate is calculated as the Total Resident Days for the Resident Day
quarter divided by the available days (number of beds at the end of the quarter times the
number of calendar days in the quarter). Calculation of the MA occupancy rate is the Total
PA MA days from the Resident Day quarter divided by Total Resident Days from the
Resident Day quarter.
For nursing facilities that meet the qualifying criteria, their nonpublic MDOI payment for the
quarter is calculated as the Total PA MA days times the quarterly MDOI per diem. The MDOI
per diem varies by quarter based on the total funds available for the quarterly nonpublic
MDOI payment divided by the sum of the Total PA MA days for all qualifying facilities.
