2017 Independence Waiver Amendment

Independence Waiver Amendment – effective January 1, 2018

The Department of Human Service (DHS) Office of Long-Term Living (OLTL) will be submitting an amendment to the Independence Waiver with an effective date of January 1, 2018. The Department proposes the following changes to the Independence Waiver:

  • Reduce the length of time for individuals to reside in a nursing facility from 90 days to 30 days to allow payment of transition activities through the waiver (Appendix C-1/C-3, Service Definitions);
  • Add tenancy and pre-tenancy activities to the Service Coordination service definition (Appendix C-1/C-3, Service Definitions); 
  • Revise the Vehicle Modifications service definition (Appendix C-1/C-3, Service Definitions); 
  • Add Support Broker services (Appendix A and E); and 
  • Revise the unduplicated recipient numbers and cost neutrality estimates for the 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 fiscal years to reflect the transition of waiver participants to managed care. (Appendix B and J).

Interested persons are invited to submit written comments regarding the proposed waiver amendments to the Department of Human Services, Office of Long-Term Living, Bureau of Policy and Regulatory Management, Attention: Independence Amendments, P.O. Comments received by close of business on August 31, 2017 will be reviewed and considered for revisions to the proposed waiver amendments.
